What is the feminist perspective?

Feminism is a conflict perspective, arguing that the family oppresses women. Feminists focus on issues such as the unequal division of domestic labour and domestic violence. Feminists say gender inequality is not ‘natural’ or ‘inevitable’ but is socially constructed.

What do Liberal Feminists believe?

Argues women’s oppression is gradually being overcome through changing people’s attitudes through changes in the law.

What do Marxist Feminists believe?

Argue the main cause of women’s oppression in the home is not men, but capitalism.

What do Radical Feminists believe?

Argue that all societies have been founded on patriarchy. Men are the enemy and the family/marriage are key institutions in patriarchal society.

What does Difference Feminism believe?

They argue that we cannot generalise about women’s experiences.
