Superior Vena Carva

This large vein carries deoxygenated blood from the upper body to the heart's right atrium.

Right Pulmonary Artery

This artery carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the right lung.

right pulmonary vein

This vein carries oxygenated blood from the right lung to the left atrium of the heart.

Right Atrium

One of the four chambers of the heart that receives deoxygenated blood from the body through the superior and inferior vena cava and pumps it to the right ventricle. It is located on the right side of the heart and is separated from the left atrium by the interatrial septum.

Right tricuspid valve

A valve located between the right atrium and right ventricle that prevents the backflow of blood from the ventricle to the atrium during ventricular contraction. It has three cusps or flaps that open and close in response to pressure changes in the heart.

Right ventricle

The chamber of the heart that pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs for oxygenation. It is located in the lower right portion of the heart and is separated from the right atrium by the tricuspid valve. The right ventricle has a thinner muscular wall compared to the left ventricle, which pumps blood to the rest of the body.

Inferior vena cava

This blood vessel carries deoxygenated blood from the lower half of the body to the right atrium of the heart.

Left pulmonary artery

The blood vessel that carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the left lung.

Left pulmonary veins

Left atrium

Left mitral valve

A bicuspid valve located between the left atrium and the left ventricle that controls the flow of oxygenated blood from the lungs into the left ventricle.

Chordae tendineae

Tough, fibrous cords that attach the edges of the atrioventricular valves (mitral and tricuspid) to the papillary muscles in the heart. They prevent the valves from flipping inside out or bulging excessively into the atria when the ventricles contract.

Papillary Muscle

Small muscles in the heart that attach to the chordae tendineae and help control the movement of the mitral and tricuspid valves during the cardiac cycle.

Left ventricle

Chamber of the heart that pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body. It is the thickest and strongest chamber of the heart.
